Well here is the long awaited Indiana Beach Amusement Park Review.

It took roughly 5 hours to get there and that includes stopping for some food. For the last hour of the drive it felt as if you are driving into “The Children of the Corn” movie. That could be because it was dark and the highway was under construction.
We get to the hotel and they were very polite and hospitable. We get all checked in and head to our room. We open the door it is a bit stuffy inside so we turn on the air. First thing we do is check it out, not a bad room. The first thing my wife said was it reminded her of the room from “Vacancy”.

Now for the park.

So Indiana Beach after reading a lot of mixed reviews on this place I am going to have to side with the bad ones. Where should I begin….

When walking up to the park it looks like a decent LITTLE park. When you get inside you realize this is not true. This place reminded me
more of a carnival where the rides got stuck and they just left it there. All they needed was some clowns walking around.

At least there wasn’t a huge crowd on the day we went. We road all operational rides in 2 hours.

All the rides weren’t even running, let’s see we couldn’t ride the Cornball Express, the log flume or the Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain.  This is at a park that only has 6 coasters, so that is a third of the coasters weren’t working. The first ride was the Tig’rr we walk up and are on this ride with no wait, that is a good thing. We sit down, put our belts on, and are told to keep our hands and feet inside the car at all times. They never checked our seat belts or anything. This seems to be a safety issue here. That is the first issue we ran into. There will be a list following.

Then we rode the Hoosier Hurricane, this is a wooden
coaster. Indiana Beach needs to work on their loading and unloading of
passengers on their rides. It literally took 5 minutes to unload and reload a

Steel Hawg is a steel coaster that has been on the travel channel and is the one of the reasons we went. This ride still didn’t feel safe and was way to short. When I think about it I don’t think any of the rides last longer than 30 seconds.

Galaxy was the first coaster built here and is probably the best coaster still there. It was built in 1971 and was fun. Still not much
safety going on.

We also decided that we would pay $3.50 to walk through the
haunted house called Frankenstein’s Castle. They boast that it was one of
2008’s best walk through attractions. Well there must not be that many walk
through attractions at amusement parks for this to make the list especially the
top of that list. You walk though and there was maybe 4 things there to make
you jump or supposed to make you jump. Why do kids insist on paying for these
attractions just run through them, they don’t even take the time to look at the

They wanted $7.50 for a funnel cake with fruit topping on it, $3.00 for a small ice cream cone, $2.50 for a bottle of coke, $2.00 for a taco. These are extremely high priced for a small park.

Indiana Beach is in the process of putting in a Multi-million dollar expansion. What they should have done is taken that money and put it into cleaning up, repainting, landscaping, and restoring what they already have. All the other parks I have been to do their expansions in the off season, I believe Indiana Beach decided to wait until the park was getting ready to open to even start. You have to walk through construction zones to get into the park and to go from one attraction to the other.

In all the reviews we read before going everyone was talking about how good the Tacos were, so I knew I was going to have at least one Taco. So before we left the park at 1:oopm  (2 hours after they opened) we got us some Tacos. They were pretty good and probably the best part of the park.

The only thing this park has going for it is where it is located. The park is located on a peninsula in the middle of Lake Shafer. It has a big boardwalk feel to the park which is also nice.

  1. All rides not in operation
  2. Lack of safety
  3. This place was dirty and runned down
  4. Food and drinks were overpriced
  5. Employees were far from friendly
  6. Construction zones every where
  7. Lack of restrooms

I would not recommend this park to any of my
friends, I will not go back. Overall this is the worst park I have ever been
to. We should have went to the parks that are closer to our house

Alright so this weekend the wife and I are headed to our first theme park of the month and year. We will be going to Kings Island which is in Mason, OH which is near Cincinnati, OH. We have been to this park once before together but a couple of times with others before we met.

I can wait to ride some coaster and feel the wind in my hair, I don’t even mind if it is raining I will still ride the coaster. We are going ride the diamondback and the Firehawk. I am really excited. I am considering doing a live blog on the day we are at the park but figure it would have to be done through twitter. When I get home I will give a full report and review of Kings Island.

So as I was telling you in the last post I turned 31 the other day. I received may presents from my wife. We went to dinner with my dad and step mom, and then some of our really great friends. Dinner was a blast just hanging out and talking.

Angela got me a new messenger bag to carry my stuff in, a new golf bag, golf glove, iTunes gift card and stuff to put in my bag. She loves to call my messenger bag a “purse”. It is not a purse it is a MESSENGER Bag. Indiana Jones carried one it was a satchel.

Ok now let us get back on topic. Dinner was at Red Lobster for the all you can eat shrimp. I got my moneys worth, I ate 5 orders of shrimp scampi, and one order of grilled garlic shrimp. It was good, not as good as fresh shrimp but still good.

Saturday we got up, got showered and dressed, then we headed off for St. Louis to the Fox Theatre to see Shrek the Musical. It was fun, the make-up was amazing and we had good seats. I love the Fox

Theatre with all of the woodwork and statues. It has that classic feel that is amazing. That is the 6th or 7th time we have been there.

When we the Play was over I was in contact with Rickie, my friend who was looking after the animals while we were out, he said that the dog doesn’t like him and was scared and pooped all over the place. So instead of going out to dinner which was our original plan we decided it was best to head home to access the situation.

When we got home we had to do some light house cleaning, wash the couch cushion covers, and give the dog a bath. She was better when we got home she calmed down and laid in her bed. She had a rough day.

Sunday we were supposed to go to a Family Reunion for Angela’s family but we didn’t. Angela didn’t feel well and the house was in some dire need of some TLC. So we spent a couple of hours getting some cleaning done. Then to the grocery (where we spent way to much money).

When we got home Angela made some of her nearly Famous Veggie Soup. It was really, really good. Then we tried to watch “Old Dogs”, it wasn’t good.

As a Birthday Weekend I would have to say it was the BEST one yet. Might not sound all that great to you but I loved every minute of it.

Today we took my niece and nephew to Holiday World. It was a great day for it, the weather was great and the kids seem to have a blast.

When we got there we headed straight for Splashin Safari for those that don’t know it is Holiday World’s water park and it is great. The water was chilly but the crowds were minimal. We went to the Wildebeest first, it is their new ride this season. It is the world’s longest water coaster. I wasn’t sure the kids would like it or be scared of it because they have never been to an amusement park before.

So we get there and have to wait maybe 3 minutes. We get on it and the conveyor belt takes us to the top. I tell the kids to hold on tight, I would hate for one of them to fall out. The raft crest the hill and the ride attendant says have fun and here we go. The raft is going through the turns and hills and all I can hear is my nephew making these noises. They weren’t scared noises they were happy noises.

When the ride ends he is telling us how great it was and every little detail about it. So we head off and ride all the water slides that Splashin Safari has to offer. My niece had a scared look on her face a couple of times but when I would look at her she would smile.

When we get done in the water park we head out to Holiday World. The first thing my nephew see is the Hallow Swings and he has to ride them. So we do he like them a lot.

Then we are walking around to ride the Turkey-whirl (tilt-a-whirl) when my nephew sees the Voyage and its 154 foot drop. First thing you should know my nephew is 6 years old and barely tall enough to ride half the rides at Holiday World. He sees it and says I WANNA RIDE THAT. So we go up and measure him and he is tall enough.

We walk through the queue line and we get to sit in the 2nd car. Me and Dyllan in the Front, Angela and Autumn in the rear. The train goes up the lift hill and I look over at Dyllan. He has a big smile on his face and it didn’t leave for the length of the ride. Autumn she had the scared look on her face until she noticed I was looking.

The last ride we enjoyed was the Carousel. Dyllan and I were the only ones to ride it. I haven’t rode one of these in probably 20 years, they haven’t changed much but it was fun to ride it with Dyllan to make that memory that will last a lifetime for both of us.

It was a great day, with many, many, many memories created thanks to Holiday World.

Tomorrow I am taking my niece and nephew to Holiday World f0r their first ever trip. This makes me think back to when I was younger and my first trips their but it wasn’t Holiday World at that time. It was still known by Santa Clause Land.

I can still remember riding the Firecracker, it was a little steel coaster that felt as if it would fall of the track at every corner. I loved that coaster and when they removed it I was sad.

I remember sitting on Santa’s lap. I remember telling him what I wanted for Christmas. I would do it tomorrow if my wife would let me.

I also remember that everytime we would go I would have to get a bull whip from the toy store that is now the Banquet Center. I would keep that thing for months thinking I was Indiana Jones.

Holiday World has come so far since I was a child. A lot of the rides I loved as a child are gone or reworked. The banshee has been replaced by the Hallow Swings, the Louis and Clark cars track has been shortened.

Like they say, you must change to improve. I am happy that Holiday World is growing.

I am so excited about our next trip and seeing my niece and nephew faces when they ride the rides and the slides.

On one of those previously mentioned college visit trips (Click Here) my friend Steve and I drove my mom’s van up there. It was fun I always seemed to have fun with Steve. So we drive up there probably bumping some old school rap. That was the music of choice in High School.

So we get there and we do the lovely tour, this was the third tour for us. There was nothing fun or interesting that happened there. So after we are done there we decide to head to Mt. Carmel which is not to far away from Vincennes if you don’t get lost. We got lost we are driving around and miss are exit. Problem was we never saw are exit. So we kept driving down this highway.

Finally we enter in to this small town, that we are looking for a gas station or anything to get directions when we see a cop. So we drive around the block and pull up next to the cop. I rolled down my window and ask him for directions.

He rolls down his window and yells that I am obstructing his radar. Let it be known that I was the only vehicle on this road. So explain that I am lost and he doesn’t really seem to care, but he gives me directions and we are on our way to Mt. Carmel.

When we arrive in Mt. Carmel we stop by and see my uncle at work, at this time I didn’t know that my aunt and uncle were having problems. We chat with him for a while and find out that my aunt is at home. I decide that we are going to stop by and see her, Steve is ok with it.

So we drive to my aunt’s house, when we arrive Steve and I go up to the door. We knock and no one answers.

We are like ok, so we get back in the van and head to get some lunch. Our original reason for going to Mt. Carmel was that there school had open campus. Open campus is where the students are allowed to leave school property and get lunch elsewhere, whether it be at home or a restaurant.

So we head to a pizza place not only for pizza but high school girls. Problem since we got lost by the time we got to Mt. Carmel lunch was over.

Now you might be thinking what is funny or interesting about this story. Well when I got home my mom is mad, real MAD. I say, “What is wrong, what did I do?”

“Your aunt called, you know what she said”

“No, we went by her house but she wasn’t home”

“Really she says she didn’t answer the door because you 7 guys with you and that you were driving so crazy that the van was on 2 wheels”

I am like, “What? It was me and Steve and no one else.” I have a confused look on my face.

“That is what she said, how can you explain it”

I said, “There is nothing to explain, I didn’t do that.”

“Well this is your aunt ******, she has been known to stretch the truth.”

I say, “Stretch the truth, that is a flat-out lie”

Mom knows when I am lying, I don’t know how or why but I can’t lie to my mom’s face. For some reason I just start laughing. I didn’t do it and didn’t get into any trouble for this. I just think it is funny.

A couple of weeks ago, maybe 6, we got a new kitten his name is Ash. He is a cute grey cat with grey eyes, but he is a bit crazy. He is the third cat in our family and also the smallest.

In our house there is also Stewie who is a awesome orange tabby and Ming a beautiful Siamese. These two have very similar personalities, they are both calm and loving. Sometimes they play rough but it is rare.

Since Ash has joined our family, life around here has gotten a little more hectic. Stewie is 3 times Ash’s size and Ash is 1/2 ming’s size but that doesn’t stop Ash. He will go and jump on Stewie and bite him. He does the same thing to Ming. Ming will move and hiss at him, then she runs off. Then Ash will chase her because he thinks she is playing. Sometimes Ming will start it but most of the time it is Ash.

It is nothing to hear a stampede running through our house. Ash chasing Ming, Ming chasing Ash, Stewie chasing Ming, and so on. It is sometimes funny when you see happening, but it is extremely annoying when they do it at night, when trying to sleep. Now we know Ash is just a kitten and he wants to play. Ming and Stewie just want to play occasionally but most of the time they just want to sleep.

You can tell that they are starting to get along, Ming is now cleaning Ash and Stewie lets him sleep by him. Yet Ash still likes to torment the other two. It will take time for him to calm down and grow out of being a kitten.

I have done some research and believe I have figured out why Ash is so crazy. These pictures explain everything.
